Siena Week 6

Week 6 was the first week of our camp. Teens came everyday from 12-4 and will continue to do so for the next 3 weeks, for a total of 4. Our camp is set up so that the teens get to pick which of the four focus groups they want to be in. Their options were Film and Music production, Photography, Dance and Gardening and landscaping. My partner and I are heading up the gardening group. I bet you can guess how many teens chose to be in our group! If you said any more than 1, you'd be wrong! Another teen was forced into our group so we get to work with a grand total of 2 teens. On the 3rd day we got a third teen but he was gone the day after and hasn't been seen since. The teens were disrespectful and loved to talk back and were such incredible a**holes in the beginning. Needless to say the first day was a little rough. Day 3 I led our whopping 3 teens alone and it just went great. Though some of the teens in other groups are still just awful, our group is actually getting better as we continue working with them. So I have some hope for the future. We have been doing work in the garden, learning to ID plants, we are doing a vegetable stand twice a week and we are doing activities to teach them about citizenship, the history of the site and other useful stuff. Rain is a thing and our camp is all outdoor so that's just awesome but we make it work, and we will continue to do so in regards to all aspects of camp.

weeeeeeeee!

Enjoy your week
